The Triangle Privacy Research Hub (TPRH) is a non-profit organization committed to advancing the innovative and ethical use of data to address some of society’s most pressing issues. TPRH creates connections between academics, students, industry leaders and policy advocates that have connections to the North Carolina Research Triangle. The goal is for these connections to foster research that produces practical recommendations for changes to the legal and policy landscape to best encourage effective use of data while protecting privacy.

New technologies create the opportunity for data to be used to provide value for individuals’ lives. The use of this data also impacts personal privacy. TPRH rejects the notion that the innovative use of data must always sacrifice personal privacy. Work done by TPRH explores policy approaches to allow for use of data, while protecting individual privacy. Specifically, TPRH’s mission is to promote research of privacy protecting policy solutions to advance the use of data to improve:  ACCESS TO INFORMATIONEDUCATION,  GENDER AND SEXUAL VIOLENCE, HEALTHCARE, & NATIONAL SECURITY/LAW ENFORCEMENT.

TPRH was organized exclusively for charitable, scientific, literary, and educational purposes. The primary goals of TPRH are:

  • Generate independent research related to emerging privacy issues;
  • Facilitate collaboration between different departments and universities in the Research Triangle region; and
  • Aggregate and organize research, and inform the public regarding developments related to privacy and privacy research.
